The Architecture of Shambhala
Neighbourhood Centres/Regional Program Centres
|
Contact: Andy Karr akarr@shambhala.orgThis group presented their conclusions in a ground, path and fruition format: Ground: How can we open up/expand to millions? One idea is to change our model of a single urban centre to lots of neighbourhood centres, possibly organised along the principle of delegs. Path: We don’t have to get bigger to be expansive. How to move forward includes generating a 5 year plan, ways to present the ideas "back home", looking at delegs to see what works, and making lists of shared activities that could be regionally organised and funded (e.g., by Washington DC, Baltimore and Philadelphia area groups) Fruition: The approach means that small groups can help each other rather than continually looking to the big urban centre for energy. A manual could be prepared that would help groups make the transition. Pith statement: Our purpose is expanding out to help others. How? By starting small neighbourhood centres so we can grow larger through reaching more people while at the same time developing a regional program centre |
