Kalapa Festival
King Gesar and the Royal Lineage of Shambhala
August 12-19, 2007 | Halifax, Nova Scotia
A gathering and celebration of the Mukpo clan, the "Kalapa Festival: King Gesar and the Royal Lineage of Shambhala" will include Gesar teachings and empowerments by His Eminence Namkha Drimed Rinpoche, as well as teachings by the Sakyong, Jamgon Mipham Rinpoche. There will be also be teachings and practice on drala and werma to deepen the experience of those who are currently practicing the Werma sadhana.
The festival will include the Yeshe Tsogyal Abhisheka performed by HE Namkha Drimed Rinpoche.
Check-in for all participants will take place on Sunday, August 12, between 12 noon and 6pm. Please try to schedule your arrival to coincide with these hours so you are able to obtain your program materials.
A closing feast on Saturday, August 18th, ending by 6pm, will conclude the Kalapa Festival. Departure for most people will be Sunday, August 19.
Prerequisites:
There are no practice requirements for attending the Kalapa Festival. Everyone is welcome.
Registration:
Full program: Cost for the full program is $375 (Cdn). The Shambhala Benefits Policy and Halifax Shambhala Centre Generosity Policy will not apply. Registration will begin June 15; a link to the online registration form will be added to this page. Seating is limited; please register early to guarantee your space.
The Yeshe Tsogyal Abhisheka is open to all program participants and is included in the Festival registration fee.
Abhisheka only: Tickets for this event are $100 (Cdn). This also includes entrance to a Garden party at the Kalapa Court on Wednesday afternoon. Seating is limited, as priority will be given to those attending the entire festival. If space is available, ticket sales will begin on August 8, 2007. (Suggested teaching gift $50)
Teaching gifts: Festival teaching gifts will be offered to the three principal teachers for this program: H.E. Namkha Drimed Rinpoche and Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche. Teaching gifts will be collected at the venue at check-in.

Accommodations:
The Kalapa Festival will take place at St. Mary's University, Halifax, where a limited number of dormitory rooms have been reserved. Single rooms: $46/night; Twin room: $75/night (for two). There are also a few apartment suites with 2 double rooms, a kitchen (no kitchen utensil are supplied), small living dining area and bathroom. The price for this suite (can house 4 people) is about $120 per night.
Rates include full breakfast, linen, towels, housekeeping, parking, Fitness and Recreation Centre pass (users must be 16 years of age or older) and all taxes.
