1. “FINDINGS REPORT”: DRAFT #1
Our working group’s “findings document” has been emailed to all working group and review group members. The bulk of today’s meeting centered around discussion of this document. Since the document went out only last night to everyone, most members had only been able to quickly scan it prior to our meeting. It was agreed, therefore, that all Working Group members would carefully review and contemplate this document, then send remarks and suggestions to Mary by embedding them in the draft document in red print. ALL SUGGESTIONS ARE DUE BY TUESDAY, JUNE 22. This will give Mary time to put together Draft # 2, and email it to all prior to our next meeting on June 29.
In particular, feedback would be appreciated in the following areas:
Please check Part Three (Current Practices) for accuracy, particularly as relates to the type of group or center you wrote about. Much info needed to be integrated into a shorter document. If anything you feel is critical was left out or you need to make other changes, please write them into the document, using red font, as described above, and email to Mary. Please also review Part Two (history) for accuracy and precision of language.
We want our language to be as precise as possible in regards to how we phrase the “key questions about membership. Your assistance in making our questions pithy and to the point is needed. As above, please review Part One and make suggestions in the text in red.
2. TIME-TABLE.
Once our interim documents are completed and handed in to Connie Brock at the beginning of July, we will enjoy a Working Group meeting hiatus until early August. We will meet again in early August when Mary will report regarding the Governing Council’s meetings. We will then have August, September and October to develop membership recommendations which will be due in early November.
3. CONGRESS WEBSITE.
Wendy Layton reports that she and Mark Szpakowski are working to improve the usefulness of the Shambhala Congress website. In particular, they are designing ways for documents (beyond meeting minutes) to be posted by the various Working Groups, and for people to comment on-line regarding the work of the groups.
