MANDALA GOVERNING COUNCIL MEETS

REPORTS POSTED ON WEBSITE

NEW DATES FOR SHAMBHALA CONGRESS 2005

The Mandala Governing Council met at Shambhala Mountain Center in the last week of July, along with the Directors of more than 30 Shambhala centres. The meeting took place during a time of great energy in the life of our lineage.  Proclaiming the need to reveal who we are in the world, the Sakyong had presented an extensive text, The Primordial Rigden - The Magical Heart of Shambhala, to our community.  "This is the time for us to make a good, enjoyable, spontaneous leap forward," said Rinpoche. "We are entering a new period of mandala."

It was in this context that the Mandala Governing Council met for the first time. It considered far-reaching changes for the kingdom and organization of Shambhala. The council's work focused on the preliminary findings and recommendations of the eight Shambhala Community Plan Working Groups.

To give a sense of the picture that is emerging of this work-in-progress, the following Working Group papers have been posted on-line. Further detailed work is now underway on the proposal for a New Economic Model, in light of suggestions made by centre directors at the meeting. The revised document will be posted in the coming month. Similarly, new work is underway on a Core Government structure, following consultations between the Sakyong and the President. It is hoped that this will be available on line before Harvest of Peace on 26 September.

Everyone is welcome to view these papers and to comment on them through the Review Groups or online on the website:
