The winter practice intensive closes out the Tibetan lunar calendar year. The end of the lunar calendar year, is often referred to as “the dön season.”
During this time, the Pacifying the Turmoil of the Mamos chant is recited. It is an elaborate protector offering, done before Shambhala Day (Tibetan New Year) to pacify the karmic causes of personal, social, and environmental chaos that accumulate at the year’s end. By reciting the chant, we tune into the protector principle of awareness and reconnect with sacred outlook.
We gather to practice together as we end the Year of the Earth Mouse, and all the global and personal obstacles that have accompanied it.
