Tibetan masters throughout history have insisted that we must understand the true nature of ultimate reality through logic and reasoning before leaping into Vajrayana meditation practices. Ultimate reality, sometimes called 'emptiness' is the most important topic in Buddhism. In this course we will study Khenpo Tsultrim's commentary on the great text on emptiness: The Fundamental Wisdom of the Middle Way by Nagarjuna. This course will emphasize an experiential approach so that students may experience the inner meaning of these teachings directly for themselves.
Recommended reading is Sun of Wisdom by Khenpo Tsultrim Gyamtso (available in the DC Shambhala Center bookstore).
Students at all levels can benefit from this exploration of the most profound topic in Mahayana Buddhism.
Jay Lippman, has been a student of Shambhala since 1973 and is a senior teacher and advanced meditation instructor. Jay is known for his genuine commitment to serious Dharma study and practice, for his sense of humor, clarity and accessible style.
