Smile at Fear: Developing the
Tools of Gentleness and Bravery A Video Workshop featuring Pema Chödrön Led by Susan Page
Dates: Tuesdays, March 2 - April 6, 2010 (six classes)
Times: 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm Location:Shambhala Meditation Center of Washington DC Fee: $60
How can we work with our anxiety and fear about ourself in a genuine way, one that is based on gentleness and nonaggression, yet which leads to the discovery of an indestructible fearlessness?
Pema Chödrön, one of the preeminent Tibetan Buddhist teachers of our time, works with us on this timely and provocative theme. Through the practice of meditation, a discussion of powerful teachings from the Shambhala Buddhist tradition, and question-and-answer sessions, we investigate the topic of fear and fearlessness together. We explore ourselves, our doubts, and our fears—and cultivate tools to discover our innate, basic goodness. From this investigation, we find the ground of unconditional confidence, and we are able to smile at our fear. We learn how to invoke confidence as the basis for living a life that is fully and joyfully engaged. We realize that we can be both brave and tender-hearted at once.
This program is a companion to Smile at Fear: Awakening the True Heart of Bravery, a recently published book of teachings by Chögyam Trungpa.
Meditation instruction is available upon request.
