"Often we think about meditation as some kind of unusual, holy, or spiritual activity. As we practice , that is one of the basic beliefs we try to overcome. The point is that meditation is a completely normal: it is the mindful quality present in everything we do."

Grass Valley Meditation Group

Shambhala is committed to bringing the practice of sitting meditation to anyone who is interested in practicing.

Group practice is helpful to us all. We offer sitting meditation, walking meditation and free meditation instruction.

Educational programs are provided by teachers with advanced training through Shambhala International.

Our group has chosen to present audio and video classes taught by Pema Chodron each year.

The Grass Valley group is a religious and educational organization with roots in Tibetan Buddhism.

"Shambhala" is the name of a mythical kingdom in ancient Tibet where an enlightened society is said to have flourished.

Our group is affiliated with Shambhala International founded by the late Chogyam Trungpa Rimpoche and now administered by his son and spiritual heir, Sakyong Mipham Rimpoche.
