Milarepa Day

Sunday, February 24, 2008

Join us at the Shambhala Center for the annual celebration honoring the life of the great Kagyu master Milarepa, Tibet's most famous yogi, renowned for his ascetic lifestyle in the high mountains, his perseverance in meditation, and the spontaneous poems by which he taught the dharma to hunters and villagers alike.

We will be reading the entire Kagyu Gyurtso, The Rain of Wisdom or songs of enlightenment of the Kagyu lineage. This is a practice which removes sickness, confusion and all kinds of obstacles to one's activity in the world as well as to our practice. Because these words were uttered by masters who were enlightened they serve to inspire and awaken our own enlightened mind.

The celebration begins at 9 am on Sunday, February 24. We will break for an hour and a half at noon. We will start again at 1:30 pm. We will probably go until about 6 pm or so. Feel free to join us at any time throughout the day.
