The Jamestown Shambhala Meditation Group is part of Shambhala International, a worldwide association of meditation centers founded by Vidyadhara the Venerable Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche and now directed by his son and spiritual heir, Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche. We practice Buddhist meditation as taught by the Kagyü and Nyingma schools of Tibetan Buddhism, based on the basic core practices of mindfulness and awareness.

We meet on Tuesday evenings from 7-9pm in Jamestown, Rhode Island. Please see our Practice Page for more information.

Throughout history, men and women have aspired to create societies that enable them to express the dignity of human existence and to lead meaningful lives within a flourishing culture. This is the vision of Shambhala.

At the heart of this wisdom tradition is the view that a dignified life based on meditative understanding is accessible to everyone and can blossom into an enlightened society. Contemplative practices bring into our ordinary lives a natural sense of goodness, fearlessness, and humor.

Several of our members are students of the Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche through Nalandabodhi. Nalandabodhi was founded by The Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche to provide a gateway to the Buddhist science of mind. Through an international network of meditation and study centers, Nalandabodhi provides programs and detailed curriculums in Buddhist study, meditation, and action.
